San Diego Memorial Day Senior Baseball Tournament

Special Events

We have planned a number of optional special events for the more adventurous, aimed particularly at out-of-town visiting teams. Results of a player survey were too few to ensure minimum participation in most events. However, interest in a barbecue Sunday night was overwhemingly positive, so that event is being planned and set up.

Barbecue (Reserve in Advance!)

Date: Sunday, May 25 at 7:00 pm
Location: Seaside Room, Marina Village, 1936 Quivira Way, San Diego CA 92109
Cost: $15 per

Description: The Seaside Room has a nice view of San Diego’s Mission Bay that will accommodate up to 300 people. Dinner will include country barbecued ribs and chicken (seconds OK), ranch-style bbq beans, corn on the cob, country potato salad, baked breads/rolls, a beverage station and dessert station. We may also hold a Raffle (opportunity drawing) for interested attendees.

Microbrewery Tour

Status: Canceled due to lack of interest.

Location: Stone Brewery, public tours noon to 6pm - $3
Location: Green Flash Brewery, Fri 3 to 11pm, Sat noon to 9pm, Sun noon to 6pm - $5
Location: Wineries, see Temecula Wineries

Description: The Temecula Valley, about 50 miles north and east of San Diego, is known for its wineries, nearly rivaling those more famous ones in the Napa-Sonoma valley of Northern California. We could arrange a bus tour or a self-transported caravan to the wineries Friday afternoon, where wine tasting is usually in the range of $5-$8 per winery (see Some also offer hors d'oeuvres and dinner. What's not so well known is that San Diego is also a hotbed of micro-breweries, named by some industry magazines as the #2 beer place in the nation after Portland, Oregon. We could choose from a couple local micro-brews where you can take a tour and then try the wares. With a group, we can get the breweries to open up early just for us (micro-brewery tour had highest interest on survey).

Padres Game

All games are at 7:10 pm at Petco Park, except Sunday at 1:10 pm while we're playing. We can get some special deals on high-end events through a member -- or just a lowest cost option for outfield bleacher tickets only (highest interest on survey).
