We have planned a number of optional
special events for the more adventurous, aimed particularly at
out-of-town visiting teams. Results of a player survey were too few to
ensure minimum participation in most events. However, interest in a
barbecue Sunday night was overwhemingly positive, so that event is
being planned and set up.

Temecula WineriesDescription:
The Temecula Valley, about 50 miles north and east of San Diego, is
known for its wineries, nearly rivaling those more famous ones in the
Napa-Sonoma valley of Northern California. We could arrange a bus tour
or a self-transported caravan to the wineries Friday afternoon, where
wine tasting is usually in the range of $5-$8 per winery (see
http://www.temeculawines.org/). Some also offer hors d'oeuvres and
dinner. What's not so well known is that San Diego is also a hotbed of
micro-breweries, named by some industry magazines as the #2 beer place
in the nation after Portland, Oregon. We could choose from a couple
local micro-brews where you can take a tour and then try the wares.
With a group, we can get the breweries to open up early just for us
(micro-brewery tour had highest interest on survey).
